COMMUNITY MEETING TO DISCUSS SHARED USE RECREATIONAL TRAIL

The East River Valley Community Development Association will host a community consultation meeting on Thursday, January 22 to provide information to interested members of the public concerning a proposed 20 kilometre shared use recreational trail in the East River Valley between Eureka and Sunny Brae.

The trail will become part of the Trans Canada Trail, the worlds longest shared use recreational trail. The land for trail development is the abandoned railway that is now owned by the Province of Nova Scotia and managed by the Department of Natural Resources. The railway was assessed for recreational use in the late 1990s and was found to offer significant benefits for the community with no significant impediments to trail development being identified at that time.

Representatives from the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Health Promotion and Protection, and the Trans Canada Trail will join members of the East River Valley Community Development Association to provide information and answer any questions that members of the public may ask.

All interested members of the public are encouraged to attend this meeting.

The meeting will take place at the Springville Church Hall (old Springville School) starting at 7:00 pm January 22, 2009. For further information, contact Arlene MacGregor at 902.923.2410 or E-mail gregor1@eastlink.ca.
